Salt Lake City, UT (September 05, 2022) – A rollover accident caused victim injuries and the closure of an interstate exit ramp in Salt Lake City on Monday, September 5th.
The accident took place at about 6:00 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 on the off-ramp connecting to 900 South when two vehicles collided.
The force of the crash left one of the vehicle’s wheels up in the roadway. Police and first responders shut the exit ramp and re-routed traffic as they investigated the cause and attended to the victims.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
In a rollover collision, a vehicle flips over on its roof or side. Rollover accidents often take place when a driver overcorrects after dodging something in the roadway or because of a sudden, unexpected stop. Rollover accidents can also be caused by problems with the vehicle’s tires.
Vehicle manufacturers have long been aware that some of the automobiles they produce have a high center of gravity because they are top-heavy and, therefore, prone to rolling over during accidents and certain other scenarios. In many instances, rollovers are the result of tire blowouts.
If you were injured as a passenger in a rollover crash, the law entitles you to financial compensation for your injuries. This is true even if the driver is a good friend, coworker, or member of your household.
Rollover accidents usually leave their victims with serious injuries, including:
- Traumatic brain injury
- Damage to the spinal cord
- Injuries to the back and neck
- Broken or fractured bones
- Death
- Paralysis
The severe nature of the above-listed injuries almost always leaves victims with expensive medical bills, an extended recovery period during which they are unable to work, and, in extreme cases, permanent disabilities that could demand a lifetime of care.
