Draper, UT (September 28, 2022) – According to officials with the Utah Highway Patrol, a driver and passenger are both at large after fleeing a traffic stop on Interstate 15 and causing a multi-vehicle crash that left three people injured on Saturday, September 24th.
The initial incident occurred at about 10:25 p.m. on the interstate’s southbound side near the off-ramp for 12300 South in Draper when a state trooper tried to pull a vehicle over for driving without headlights. The driver pulled off the roadway but then quickly accelerated and took off.
Due to the potential dangers to other drivers, the trooper did not give chase. The driver of the fleeing vehicle, which had since been determined to be stolen, crashed into three other vehicles just a short while later on Bangerter Highway.
All three occupants of the struck vehicles were transported with injuries that are believed to be non-critical.
The two occupants of the stolen vehicle then fled the scene on foot and have yet to be captured.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
