Cedar City, UT (September 12, 2022) – A suspect is facing numerous charges including felony aggravated assault after allegedly following a vehicle for several miles, then ramming it, causing critical injuries to one of the occupants before fleeing the scene.
A statement from the arresting officer states that he observed the offender, 22-year-old Quentin Kyle Redshirt, driving northbound on 300 West at an extremely high rate of speed, apparently chasing another vehicle.
According to a probable cause statement, the passenger in the front vehicle sustained serious injuries as well as disfigurement to her mouth and face.
Redshirt left the scene on foot but was apprehended by officers just a few blocks away. He admitted to the police that he was intoxicated. A half-drunk bottle of vodka and paperwork for prescription drugs that contribute to impaired driving found in the glove compartment supported this admission.
Redshirt is facing a lengthy succession of charges.
Charging documents indicate that the victims did not know Redshirt nor did they have any idea why he chased them. Redshirt himself, who has no ties to Cedar City, claims to have no memory of the event.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
