Spanish Fork, UT (May 07, 2022) – Police in Spanish Fork have identified the man riding a bicycle who was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer on Tuesday, May 3rd.
Officers were dispatched to the scene of the fatal bicycle accident in the area of Highway 6 and Canyon Creek Parkway in Spanish Fork at about 11:30 a.m.
The victim has since been identified as 49-year-old Jed Jorgensen, a resident of Salem.
Eyewitnesses reported that the driver of the tractor-trailer was trying to make a righthand turn off of 1000 North into the eastbound lane of Highway 6.
A man riding a bike through the crosswalk heading from north to south was struck by the truck’s back tires and ejected from his bike and run over by the trailer.
Jorgensen was taken by ambulance to Spanish Fork Hospital, where he passed away due to his injuries.
The truck operator, a 63-year-old man whose name has not been released, was unharmed during the incident and has cooperated with the investigation by Spanish Fork police that is currently underway.
