Cedar City, UT (May 21, 2022) – Two SUVs were totaled and one driver was hospitalized after the vehicles collided at an intersection in Cedar City on Friday, May 20th.
The crash took place at about 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of 300 West and 200 South when a Saturn Vue and a Honda CR-V were involved in a T-bone collision.
After the impact, both vehicles were found at the northeast corner of the intersection. The Honda was up against a traffic light pole and the Saturn had come to a rest on its roof a short distance away.
During the course of a preliminary investigation, a sergeant from the Cedar City Police Department said it looked as though one of the drivers failed to yield the right of way and ran the red light at the intersection.
He also said there is no evidence of any driver impairment.
The female driver of the Saturn was extricated from her vehicle and placed on a stretcher before being loaded into an ambulance and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-critical.
The driver of the Honda, also a woman, was unharmed during the crash.
Both cars took heavy damage and were towed from the scene.
Along with multiple Cedar City Police officers, personnel from Cedar City Fire Department, Southern Utah Police Department, and Gold Cross Ambulance also responded to the scene.
Traffic heading northbound on 300 West was diverted for more than an hour while police investigated and the scene was cleared.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
If you were hurt in a vehicle collision, you probably have a lot of pressing questions, like: How will you afford to pay your hospital bills? How long will it be before you can go back to work? Is your insurance actually going to cover your injuries and other damages?
A car crash is a dreadful experience. To make matters worse, insurance adjusters often try to bully or sweet-talk victims into settling their claim with a lowball offer as quickly as possible. They will push you to agree to a settlement before you have even learned the full extent of your injuries. It is crucial that you do not let an avaricious insurance provider coerce you into settling for a settlement that you and they know is not even close to what you are entitled to.
