Collisions that involve motorcycles are usually viewed as one of the most severe types of collisions due to the fact that motorcycles are often ridden at high speeds and provide neither riders nor their passengers with any real measure of safety features. In actuality, studies have shown that almost 98% of all bike accidents result in some degree of injury.
Unfortunately, it is not unusual for any motor vehicle accident to incite serious injuries or fatalities. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that someone riding a motorcycle is at eight times greater risk of being injured and 37 times more likely to die in a crash than any vehicle occupant when the two collide.
Motorcycle riders are susceptible to injuries and death in a way that the occupants of other motor vehicles are not. A driver who is distracted can unexpectedly swerve into their lane, making them lose control of their bike, producing a crash without any physical contact between the two vehicles. If a car brakes suddenly in front of them, a motorcyclist can be ejected from his bike and sustain very critical injuries when they hit the pavement.
