Murray, UT (June 28, 2022) – A Utah Highway Patrol trooper and two civilians were injured when a car swerved onto the shoulder of Interstate 215 and struck a patrol car on Tuesday, June 28th.
The incident took place in the eastbound lanes of the interstate in the area of 900 West.
According to sources, the trooper pulled a vehicle over for the purpose of conducting a traffic stop on the roadside. He was parked behind the pulled-over vehicle and was sitting in his cruiser, writing a citation.
At that time, another vehicle veered off the interstate and into the righthand shoulder where the cited driver and trooper were stopped.
The third vehicle crashed into the back of the cruiser, causing heavy damage to the vehicle. The force of the impact pushed the squad car into the rear of the car that had been pulled over.
The driver of each of the three vehicles sustained non-critical injuries.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
