During the ten years leading up to 2002, the number of commercial trucks involved in serious accidents increased by 10%; an upsurge due primarily to avoidable circumstances like being too tired to drive safely, driving a truck in a dangerous manner, oversized or unbalanced freight, and faulty parts.
Accidents involving commercial trucks are also predisposed to the same factors that cause car accidents, such as drivers who are intoxicated, driver error, drowsy driving, equipment malfunctions, and insufficient maintenance.
After being injured in a commercial truck, most victims must face an agonizing and lengthy recovery. This might include rigorous and painful physical therapy in addition to numerous surgeries and costly, ongoing medical treatments, all leading to a constantly-growing stack of hospital bills combined with other associated damages like lost income from being unable to work.
When an accident resulting from negligence leaves others with damages, the injured person ought to seek the legal advice of a commercial truck injury attorney. When one person is injured by the actions of another, the law entitles them to compensation for their damages.
Sadly, most truck crash victims panic and concede to the first settlement they are offered without giving thought to their possible future medical expenses and, oftentimes, without having received their final medical diagnosis. This common mistake leaves victims to cover the not-inconsiderable remaining costs out of pocket.
