Orem, UT (February 23, 2022) – Two Utah Highway Patrol troopers were injured on Wednesday, February 23rd when a pick-up truck struck their patrol vehicle on Interstate 15 in Orem.
According to a source with knowledge of the crash, the troopers had been dispatched to investigate a car accident in the northbound lanes of the interstate near milepost 270 at about 12:00 p.m. when the driver of a passing pick-up truck lost control of the vehicle on the icy stretch of roadway and crashed into the back of the squad car.
Both troopers were in the patrol car when the collision occurred, as was one of the drivers involved in the initial accident.
The troopers were taken to an area hospital in non-critical condition.
Neither the driver from the first accident nor the driving of the striking pick-up was harmed during the impact.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Automobile Accidents in Utah
There are many car insurance laws that are unique to the state of Utah. A personal injury lawyer will be able to help you understand and adhere to these laws to ensure you are eligible to receive compensation.
Utah requires all drivers to carry a minimum of $3,000 in Personal Injury Protection insurance. This is designed to fulfill the cost of any medical expenses for the victim’s injuries, $20 a day in household help, and as much as $250 a week in lost incomes, regardless of who was liable.
For most Utah collision victims, however, this is nowhere near enough to cover all of their accident-related losses and damages. It also neglects to offer victims any degree of financial compensation for their pain and suffering. A reputable Utah car accident attorney will know the most reasonable way to deal with your current expenses and provide you with a successful outcome to your injury claim.
