Salt Lake City, UT (August 16, 2022) – A construction worker sustained serious burn injuries on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 16th during a fire that ignited unexpectedly at a construction site in the Avenues section of Salt Lake City.
The incident took place at about 4:40 p.m. in the area of 18th Avenue and 700 East and resulted in a construction trailer being burned down.
Salt Lake City Fire Department members said the victim, a male in his 20s, was opening a can of gas when an unknown ignition source sparked a fire. The incident is under investigation.
The victim was transported by paramedics to a hospital burn ward with serious injuries, including burns on over 30% of his body.
