Salt Lake City, UT (August 04, 2022) – On Thursday, August 4th, police in Salt Lake City identified the retired firefighter who sustained fatal injuries in a crash on Wednesday at an intersection in Sugarhouse.
According to sources, 48-year-old David Alexander Kluger was riding southbound along 1300 East when the driver of a northbound SUV attempted to make a lefthand turn onto 2290 South and struck the rider.
Kluger was thrown from his bike resulting in injuries that eventually proved fatal. Upon their arrival, responding officers discovered Kluger lying in the roadway. Onlookers had attempted life-saving efforts but were ultimately unsuccessful.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
Kluger had just retired in April after 22 years of working as a paramedic and firefighter. He joined the Salt Lake County Fire Department in 1999.
