Provo, UT (August 29, 2022) – Two children died when the driver of an SUV drove onto a sidewalk on Monday, July 29th in Provo.
The collision occurred at about 8:05 a.m. in the area of 800 East and 700 North when a man driving a westbound SUV veered across the oncoming lanes of traffic and struck a 10-year-old boy and his 9-year-old sister on the sidewalk.
Both children and the driver of the striking vehicle were transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. All three passed away.
The collision also ruptured gas lines in the area as they were being repaired.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash. It is unknown if impairment was a factor.
