Pedestrian Injuries in Salt Lake City
Filing a personal injury claim after a pedestrian accident is about more than just getting money. It is also about getting justice for someone’s negligence. According to Utah law, cars are required to yield the right of way to pedestrians.
Due to the fact that Utah is a no-fault state, your hospital bills are paid via your insurance company up to your policy’s limit. If you, as the victim, file a lawsuit against the responsible party, the expenses associated with your claim. like medical bills, will be refunded to the insurer if you win.
If you have been injured in an auto-pedestrian accident, it is important that you obtain medical treatment even if you think your injuries are insignificant. For the benefit of not only your health but the validity of your claim as well, don’t put off seeing a doctor or going to the emergency room.
After you receive medical attention for your pedestrian injuries, you need to make sure that you are familiar with all of your legal options. In many instances, your claim is filed against the driver of the car that struck you, but you can also bring a claim of personal injury against the city where the accident took place if it involved a defective stoplight or a dangerous roadway.
While Utah’s traffic and negligence laws provide legal protections to pedestrians, even if they are partially at fault, there are numerous legal snares that can hurt your case. For example, if the driver alleges that you were jaywalking, you could lose your case against them.
Pitfalls like this are why it is crucial that you work with a dependable attorney who is able to ensure that your case cannot be refuted by the opposing party.
