Tractor-Trailer Accidents in Nephi
Between 1992 and 2002, the rate of fatal tractor-trailer crashes rose by 10%. These preventable accidents were caused mainly by avoidable circumstances such as driver fatigue, unsafe truck operation, oversized and unbalanced payloads, and faulty equipment.
Accidents involving large commercial trucks are also subject to the same causative factors as other vehicles, including driver exhaustion, drunk driving, driver mistakes, equipment malfunctions, and improper maintenance.
Tractor-trailer accidents are often caused by negligence on the part of the trucking company. These include overloaded or overweight trailers, faulty truck parts, poor or no maintenance, inadequate driver training, speeding, or other bad driving habits. When mixed with inclement weather, poor road conditions, and overtaxed drivers who are extremely fatigued, the chance for an accident is high.
