Cisco, UT (October 31, 2021) – One person was killed during a head-on collision on 1nterstate 70 on Sunday, October 31st.
The victim’s identity has not been released at this time.
The Department of Public Safety reported that the accident took place at about 1:30 a.m. on Interstate 70 just outside of Cisco when the driver of an SUV driving eastbound in a westbound lane collided head-on with an oncoming box truck.
The impact caused both vehicles to go on fire. The occupants of the box truck sustained serious injuries. The driver of the SUV died at the scene.
Both Colorado Fire and Emergency Medical Services Team reported to the scene to render fire suppression and medical aid.
The Utah Highway Patrol Major Crash Investigation Team and the State Bureau of Investigations were notified of the fatal accident.
The westbound lanes of I-70 were shut down for about three and a half hours due to the large vehicle fires.
