Enoch, UT (May 27, 2021) – A 14-year-old boy out riding his bicycle was injured when he was hit by a vehicle on SR-130 on Tuesday, May 27th in Enoch.
Sources reported that an animal control vehicle from Cedar City was driving southbound on SR-130 in front of Foster’s Grocery when it struck a 14-year-old boy on a bike who was riding eastbound on a side street, exiting the grocery store.
The boy was transported by ambulance to a hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
The animal control officer sustained non-critical injuries and was also hospitalized.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that, in one recent year, nearly 129,000 people nationwide needed emergency room treatment and additional medical care for bicycle accident-related injuries. Moreover, 5,376 of those 129,000 eventually died due to their injuries.
Bicyclists are twice as likely to sustain mortal injuries after being involved in a traffic collision than the occupant of a vehicle. Those who survive must face a very arduous and costly road to recovery.
