Blaine Co, UT (June 20, 2021) – One person was killed during a three-vehicle accident on State Highway 75 on Saturday, July 19th in Blaine County.
At about 8:35 a.m., deputies responded to reports of a crash on Highway 75 near the U.S. Highway 20 junction.
Investigators reported that Jeffrey Grondin, 61, a resident of Isleton, CA., was driving northbound on Highway 75 in a U-Haul truck when he swerved to avoid a southbound 2015 Toyota Highlander that had crossed over the median. The Toyota sideswiped the driver’s side of the U-Haul. The force of the impact broke the truck’s rear axle and sheered off a portion of its siding.
Right behind the U-Haulwas a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Jazmin G. Gutierrez, 30, a resident of Shoshone, ID., carrying three passengers. The Jeep struck the U-Haul, continued through the borrow pit, and crashed into a barbed-wire fence.
The occupants of the Jeep all sustained non-critical injuries.
Grondin was transported via ambulance to St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
27-year-old David Marquez, a resident of Orem, was the sole occupant and driver of the Toyota. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim, Mr. David Marquez, at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
If a car accident victim wishes to take legal action by filing a claim of personal injury, they have a very specific window of time in which to do so. In Utah, a crash victim is given four years from the day the accident occurred to file their claim. This time limit, known as the statute of limitations, for car accident-related injuries varies from state to state. Once the deadline has passed, any attempt at filing a claim will be denied by the courts.
With time is very limited in these cases, hiring an experienced car accident attorney is the best way to build your claim, defend your rights, and obtain the financial compensation to which you are entitled.
