St. George, UT (July 15, 2021) – Police stated that a driver who failed to yield the right of way on a lefthand turn caused a T-bone crash on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 13th at the intersection of 3000 East and 1450 South in St. George.
The accident took place at about 3:00 p.m. Cars traveling through the intersection were slowed down and backed up for just under an hour while the involved vehicles were removed from the roadway and emergency personnel cleared the area.
First response teams from St. George Police Department, St. George Fire Department, and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the site.
An official with the St. George Police reported that a black Subaru Outback with a female driver and a child passenger was traveling southbound through the intersection. Their vehicle had a green light and the right of way.
In the meantime, a gray Sierra pick-up truck that was in the lefthand turn lane on 3000 East and trying to make a turn onto 1450 South, neglected to yield the right of way and pulled into the intersection, where it crashed into the Outback in a T-bone-style accident.
The ensuing collision caused the pick-up truck to flip onto its side. The vehicle contained two male occupants, a driver, and a single passenger inside the cab.
The woman and the child from the Outback both sustained non-critical injuries during the impact.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged during the accident and had to be towed away.
The driver of the pick-up truck was issued a citation for failing to yield during a turn and for driving without a valid driver’s license.
