Logan, UT (July 17, 2021) – A motorcycle rider died on the night of Thursday, July 16th following a collision involving a Sport Utility Vehicle in Logan.
A local source stated that, at about 8:00 p.m., emergency crews were dispatched after receiving reports of a crash between a Hyundai Palisade and a motorcycle on 3100 South.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered that CPR was already being performed on the rider. The victim was transported by paramedics to an area medical facility where he later passed away due to injuries he sustained during the impact.
The victim has since been identified as 24-year-old Spencer Scott Rawles, a resident of Brigham City.
A preliminary investigation conducted by the Logan Police Department showed that Rawles was driving on the inside southbound lane of the roadway when the SUV exited from a side street, attempted to make a lefthand turn to go northbound, and crashed into the bike.
Officials have confirmed that Rawles was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and has cooperated with crash investigators. Police have stated that driver impairment does not appear to be a factor in the accident.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim, Mr. Spencer Scott Rawles, at this time.
A motorcycle accident attorney who has experience dealing with motorcycle accidents will know how to reduce its adverse influence on your life.
When victims are injured in accidents caused by the negligence of other drivers, it is crucial that they seek legal guidance from a skilled and knowledgeable motorcycle accident attorney in Salt Lake City as soon as possible. When victims are harmed in collisions, through no fault of their own, they are often able to obtain compensation from wrongdoers to alleviate the financial costs they face for medical treatment, lost wages, property repairs, and a variety of other economic and non-economic damages.
Severe injuries, such as a traumatic brain injury or even wrongful death, can stem from a serious motorcycle crash, particularly when another motor vehicle is involved. This is due to the fact that motorcycles do not provide their riders with any of the safety features that the occupants of passenger vehicles routinely take for granted, like seat belts, a roll cage, and airbags, leaving riders exposed to serious internal injuries, as well as injuries to their brain and spinal cord.
Fatal collisions are a threat encountered by motorcyclists much more than the passengers or driver of any other kind of car or truck. While just 3 of registered vehicles in Utah are motorcycles, the state’s Department of Public Safety has recorded that Utah endured a total of 273 accident fatalities in 2017, 39 of which, about 14, were riding motorcycles.
