Sandy, UT (February 27, 2021) – A man was discovered suffering from critical injuries on the shoulder of southbound Interstate 15 at about 9400 South. on Saturday, February 27th.
An officer from the Utah Highway Patrol reported that they were notified at about 1:45 a.m. of a vehicle driving backward on the roadway.
Police indicated that the vehicle had reversed to check on what they thought was a person on the right shoulder. The driver is not thought to have played a role in the man’s injuries.
Although the investigation into the incident is still underway, investigators believe he was pushed out of a moving vehicle due to the nature of his head injuries.
Despite his critical injuries and being unconscious, the victim was breathing on his own. He was transported to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment.
The incident is now being handled by Utah’s State Bureau of Investigation.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Although crash-related injuries differ from person to person, most of the injuries sustained in a serious accident will impact their victims for many years to come, particularly if they have to undergo complex diagnostics and costly, ongoing medical care.
The injuries most frequently caused by accidents involving a motor vehicle are traumatic brain and other head injuries, whiplash, spinal cord and neck injuries, fractured or broken bones, and injuries to vital internal organs. A lot of accident victims also have to deal with pain that is so excruciating they are unable to return to work, further compounding their financial burden.
