Salt Lake City, UT (February 03, 2021) – According to officers from the Unified Police Department, a two-vehicle collision with injuries on Sunday, January 31st shut down Big Cottonwood Canyon for more than five hours.
Reports show that, at about 1:30 p.m., a pick-up truck crashed into a Subaru in the S curve in the roadway about four miles up the canyon. Both vehicles then fell more than 40 feet to the creek below.
To be able to rescue the crash victims, emergency responders had to shut down the entire roadway.
Four people suffered injuries during the accident. At least one victim was transported via ambulance to a local hospital for emergency treatment of serious injuries.
Both lanes of traffic opened back up at about 7:15 p.m. once both vehicles had been recovered and towed away.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Even though car accident-related injuries vary from victim to victim, most of the injuries suffered during a serious collision will affect their victims well into the future, especially if they require complicated diagnostics and expensive, ongoing medical treatments.
The most common injuries caused by motor vehicle accidents are whiplash, traumatic brain and other head injuries, neck and spinal cord injuries, broken or fractured bones, and injuries to vital internal organs. Many crash victims also experience pain that is so severe they have no choice but to take time off of work, furthering their financial burden.
When victims are injured in accidents caused by the negligence of other drivers, it is crucial that they seek legal guidance from a skilled and knowledgeablecar accident attorney in Salt Lake Cityas soon as possible.
