Saratoga Springs, UT (April 06, 2021) – Twelve workers are receiving medical treatment at area hospitals after they were poisoned by carbon monoxide on Tuesday, April 6th.
The deputy fire chief stated that construction workers who were on the job site at an office building in Saratoga Springs began feeling sick and notified authorities.
Rescue crews ascertained the workers were showing signs of carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a piece of equipment they were using.
Nine workers were transported via ambulances to three different hospitals because the hyperbaric facilities necessary for their treatment have a very limited capacity.
Three additional workers opted for private transportation to the hospital.
This incident is under investigation.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Carbon monoxide is often called the silent killer due to the fact that its fumes are colorless, tasteless, and odorless. For this reason, it can be difficult to identify a case of carbon monoxide poisoning.
If you have been a victim of carbon monoxide poisoning, it is important to find out what caused it. A Utah personal injury attorney will be able to conduct a meticulous investigation of the events surrounding the incident.
If it occurred at your home or place of employment, a faulty product, like a stove, heater, or piece of machinery that uses gas may be to blame. A defective product that is leaking gas combined with poor ventilation can go unnoticed until it is too late. If this is the case, you may have ground for a lawsuit.
