Salt Lake City, UT (October 26, 2020) – A man was killed during a head-on collision on Interstate 80 on Friday, October 23rd.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, at about 9:30 a.m., the driver of a Dodge Neon was headed westbound along Interstate 80 near 7600 West when, for reasons that have yet to be determined, the vehicle executed a 180-degree turn and began driving against the flow of traffic in the same lane.
This caused the driver of a westbound Subaru Crosstrek to swerve in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid colliding with the Dodge. The two vehicles sideswiped, which caused the Subaru to flip over numerous times before striking the median.
The driver of the Subaru, a 29-year-old man, despite being buckled up at the time of the incident, died during the crash. The driver of the Dodge sustained minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
