There is nothing like reading a good mystery murder novel. As a reader, you get a front seat to twits and curves of a plot. Imagine reading about a company that trains young workers as a residency program when something goes horribly wrong. Imagine reading that the company was responsible for the death of one of their students but did all they could to cover it up? As a reader you are probably at the edge of your seat protesting and wanting to tell the grieved family the truth. What a terrible ending it would be if the family never knew the truth. Imagine that this story was true. Our Farmington wrongful death lawyers at Jardine Law Offices P.C. have read real cases with the same twists and curves. Our job is to get to the truth because losing a loved one shouldn’t read like a thriller mystery novel. Your loved one’s story should read like non-fiction with a real ending revealing the real culprits.
Isela Huerta Carranza’s Story
As parents, you try your best to prepare your child for the “real” world. In order to do that you have to put your child in the hands of strangers. Isela Huerta Carranza was a bright 17-year old girl with an even brighter future. In order to best prepare for a successful future, she attended a residency program focused on career planning and training. The Clearfield Job Corps Center brings a unique perspective of job training by providing a residency program to help youth adjust and plan for their careers. Isela was chosen to be apart of the program. This inspiring school was meant to provide Isela with promising career options, not an early death.
Isela was diabetic and needed insulin. Her family sent her to the residency program with trust and faith that they would keep an eye on her daughter. Isela went off campus and did not have her insulin. When she was returned to campus insulin was not administered. Because she did not receive her medicine, Isela started having seizures and was taken to the on-campus wellness center. At this point, Isela had gone almost 24 hours without any insulin. Reports suggest that the wellness center did not call Davis County Paramedics until she went into cardiac arrest.
Isela died later that night. Instead of the residency program taking responsibility, they suggested that Isela partied too hard and died as a result. A toxicology report found no drugs or alcohol in her system. The family filed a wrongful death suit to find justice for their daughter.
